Prof. Fröhlich will be at Fraunhofer FIRST from November 5th till 18th for a scientific visit in the realm of Project SNOW. The following activities have been planed for the visit:
EPOS, particularly its high-performance communication system, will be the heart of SNOW run-time support system. A detailed specification of how EPOS will have to be adapted to fulfill the requirements of SNOW potential applications and how it will interact with other SNOW components will be produced during the visit.
Prof. Fröhlich Ph.D. thesis on ``Application-Oriented Operating Systems'' introduced a series of new concepts and techniques concerning the development of system-level software as customizable arrangements of software components. Transferring this knowledge to the German partners will be of a high significance for the project.
Prof. Schröder-Preikschat work on engineering of embedded systems is of great value for the project, since it unveils a new application scenario for parallel computing. Many aspects of this technology have been explored in the PURE system, which will be investigated by the visitor.
